For adjustable-rate mortgages, future payments recalculate when the modeled rate changes. The new rate is held for the rest of the projection.

FHSA · CANADA

First Home Savings Account

For eligible first-time homebuyers

First-year participation room$8,000
Lifetime contributions$40,000
How does it work? ⌄

Eligible contributions are generally tax-deductible. Investment growth and qualifying withdrawals are generally tax-free. Unused participation room may carry forward (subject to CRA limits).

Opening an FHSA and making a qualifying withdrawal have specific residency, age, first-time buyer and timing conditions. Check CRA guidance before contributing or withdrawing.

2026 Quebec · Illustrative example

What could an $8,000 FHSA contribution save?

Taxable income before deduction$70,000
Eligible FHSA contribution claimed$8,000
Taxable income after deduction$62,000
Estimated income tax reduction≈ $2,889

An FHSA provides a tax deduction, not a fixed tax credit or government deposit. You still have $8,000 in your FHSA. For this Quebec example, the estimated after-tax cash cost is roughly $5,111 if the full tax saving is realized. Actual tax savings and any refund depend on individual circumstances and your province. This assumes 2026 federal and Quebec tax brackets, the Quebec federal tax abatement, and no other tax or benefit adjustments. FHSA eligibility, participation room, and deduction limits apply. This benefit is unrelated to the optional Wealthsimple referral.

Flexible savings for many goals

2026 annual dollar limit$7,000
WithdrawalsGenerally tax-free
How does it work? ⌄

TFSA contributions are not tax-deductible. Eligible investment earnings and withdrawals are generally tax-free. Unused contribution room may accumulate from eligible years.

Money you withdraw is generally added back to your contribution room on January 1 of the next calendar year, not immediately. Your personal room depends on age, residency, prior deposits and withdrawals. Check CRA and your own records before contributing.

RRSP · CANADA

Registered Retirement Savings Plan

Save for retirement with tax deferral

2026 RRSP annual dollar ceiling$33,810
Your personal limitCheck CRA notice
How does it work? ⌄

Eligible RRSP contributions can reduce taxable income. Investment income is usually sheltered while it stays in the plan; withdrawals are generally taxable, subject to special programs and rules.

Your personal contribution limit is NOT automatically $33,810: it is based on previous earned income, unused room, pension adjustments and other factors. Check your latest CRA assessment before contributing.
